Coming out of prison is mostly admin. That is not how it gets talked about, but it is the truth of the first few months: identification, a bank account, an address, a phone number, Centrelink, a rental history you do not have.
What CHILL HUB is
It is practical support for people leaving prison, and for their families. It runs at the centre in Minto. The current day and time are on the CHILL HUB page.
Families count too
The people waiting at home carry a lot of it, and they are often the ones with nowhere to take it. They are welcome here in their own right, not only as somebody else’s support person.
And what it is not
It is not supervision, it is not reporting, and nothing you say here goes anywhere near a condition of your release. It is a community centre.
How to start
Turn up, or ring the centre on 02 9603 2500 first, or have someone ring for you. There is no referral and no paperwork. If we are not the right service for something you need, we will point you at who is.
People who come for CHILL HUB often end up using food relief or the community breakfast as well. That is fine and it is common.
