About us
Creating a culture of community
A community-based not-for-profit delivering tailored programs to the diverse communities of South West Sydney.
Who we are
We treat people the way we would want to be treated
South West Multicultural and Community Centre is a community-based, not-for-profit organisation delivering tailored community programs to the diverse communities of South West Sydney.
Our aim is to promote a lifestyle within our community that fosters safety from crime and violence, and that empowers residents to take charge of their lives. Our guiding principles are that we treat our clients as we would wish to be treated, and that we work collaboratively with members, families, advocates and service providers within our community.
What we do
Culture is not a thing we celebrate once a year
For over twenty-five years, SWMACC has used cultural diversity to bring about change and understanding, through programs and activities built for the people who actually turn up. They run all year, across South West Sydney and beyond.
Each program is tailored to give people a chance to grow, share and learn somewhere that does not feel like an institution.
Our objectives
Taken from the centre's constitution, in plainer words.
- Give the community a place to develop their talents through education, experience and support
- Strengthen the identity, self-esteem and culture of every member of the community
- Act as a consultant, and an auspicing body, for community groups finding their feet
- Take part in social research that improves quality of life locally
- Train volunteers so they run the centre alongside us, not beneath us
- Help alleviate poverty within the families of our community
- 25 Years in South West Sydney
- 9 Cultural and language groups
- 8 Programs running now
- 25+ Partner organisations
